A Letter From Our Foundation President
On behalf of the Royal Rosarian Foundation Officers, its Directors and all Royal Rosarians, welcome to the 2021 “Hearts and Roses” Benefit Auction!
Tonight’s auction is the primary fundraising effort of the Royal Rosarian Foundation. Net proceeds raised through this and other Foundation-sponsored events provide the funding for all of our philanthropic activities.
As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, our Foundation spends its funds in locally-based charitable ways.
We reach out to the Portland-area’s most vulnerable citizens – children from low-income families. Typically our signature Field-Trip Program sends bus transportation money to about 35 elementary and middle schools in high-poverty neighborhoods of Portland Public, David Douglas and Hillsboro School Districts so all students can participate in school-sponsored, off-site educational experiences. This year, because of the closures due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are allowing schools to use their grants for other educational enrichment.
We continue to support the Community Transitional School, a Pre-K through 8th grade private school for homeless children; Christmas For Kids, which provides clothing for at-risk first and second graders and their siblings; and the Ethos Music Center, an after-school program that offers music instruction to low-income elementary pupils in East Multnomah County.
An evening like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of many volunteers and donors. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all those who contributed in so many ways to make tonight’s event successful.
We are so glad you are here! Your attendance and participation in tonight’s auction will make a positive difference in the lives of many worthy children. Their lives will be enriched by your thoughtfulness and generosity.
With deepest gratitude,
Duchess Marilyn Schultz
